Things are a'changing with eClub communication. It
began primarily by email. In the last six months the Discussion Forum has grown
to be the predominant method of communicating within the eClub and to thousand
or so unique visitors who visit the website every month.
Now we are trying the next step: online realtime
eMeetings.
We are using Internet Relay Chat (IRC) - the original
Instant Messaging system. An applet on a webpage (left) provides a window into
a channel onto which anyone can connect and chat. You type and all those
connected can immediately read and reply.
Our first impromptu eMeet was held at 18:00 hours on
Friday 24th March 2006 and our first official meeting was the following Monday.
Depending on how it goes and whether there are any technical problems - then we
hope to make it a regular weekly event.
