London Centenary was
drawn against our old friends the Rotary Club of Paddington for the first round
in the 2008 District Quiz. Assistant Governor Trevor Johnson was question
master.
From the outset, the E-Club team of William (Team
Captain), Francis and Stella, ably supported by Harold who acted as independent
scorer, led the way. Part way through Paddington rallied and we thought they
would overtake us.
Then came the last round. Its the Rotary Round which
usually results in mutual ignominy as teams realise they know rather less that
happens outside their club. But maybe operating an international Rotary Forum
helped London Centenerary to hold on to the lead, showing that we knew more
about Rotary than we thought. |

It was a light-hearted battle, which we enjoyed, and
were quite proud of the fact that we proved that we are Rotarians in reality,
not just virtually. The photos (below) show our team on the left, and on
the right the group included the members of the Paddington team, president Mac
Purcell, Charles Sanford and Brian Clarke.
We now wait to hear who our opponents will be in the
next round.
