 Club News - 2006/7 Ambassadorial Scholar

The eClub's first ambassadorial scholar is Karl Baldauf from Grimsby, Canada, and sponsored by Rotary Club of Grimsby (District 7090).

Anil will be the Host Counsellor for 2006/2007 on behalf of the eClub.

Karl will be spending a year reading Media & Communications at Goldsmith College, University of London. During the year the Councellor and the eClub have certain obligations and Anil is looking forward to receiving the Club's support for these. Primarily, Karl should be considered a member of the Club for the year and has been invited him to participate actively in our eClub Forum.

26 September 5.00pm -Scholars Welcome Reception - York Gate
30 September - 1 October -Scholars Link Weekend in Derby
20-22 October -District Conference
6 November -London Club Scholars Lunch
5 December -Fish & Chips Supper for Scholars only - York Gate

2007
1 January- New Year’s Day Parade
21 January - Ambassadorial Scholars Conference organised by the Rotary Club of Harrow - York Gate
19 March - Youth Makes Music- Barbican Hall
TBA June Scholars, counsellors and partners final get together - York Gate

Please note that for the District Conference, the cost of accommodation and travel will be paid by the Club.

 

The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program is Ambassadorial Scholarships. Since 1947 nearly 37,000 men and women from 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. Today it is the world's largest privately funded international scholarships program. Nearly 800 scholarships were awarded for study in 2005-06. Through grants totaling approximately US$500 million, recipients from some 70 countries studied in more than 70 nations.
