BRIDGING THE WORLD 11 - 14 June 2006

The Oresund Bridge brings togther Denmark, Sweden and
Rotary. |
For the first time in the history of Rotary, not one,
but two countries look forward to co-hosting the first Rotary International
Convention ever to be held in the Nordic Countries. This is a unique
opportunity for Rotarians and their families to participate in Rotary
Internationals first Convention in its second century of existence and
under the leadership of a Swedish Rotary International President.
We anticipate some 30,000 Rotarians and their families
will visit both Malmö and Copenhagen during the four days of the RI
Convention 2006. For weeks leading up to, and after the RI Convention, not only
the Swedish and Danish areas spanning the Sound, but the entire Nordic region
will become a Nordic showcase, and be transformed into a meeting place for
Rotarians from all over the world.
This RI Convention 2006 provides a wonderful
opportunity for us to promote the Nordic countries and the Oresund region in
particular. They are all countries that are attractive to tourists, and at the
same time highly competitive and very progressive nations with a wide variety
of industries and services. We therefore expect a large amount of attention in
connection with the RI Convention 2006, which is the direct result of a close
co-operation between Swedish and Danish Rotarians.
The short distance across the Sound because of the
tunnel and bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark makes it possible to have many
opportunities for stimulating, interesting and memorable meetings at venues
such as Slagthuset and Konserthuset in Malmö and
the main Congress Center, Bella Center, in Copenhagen. Sweden and
Denmark look forward to making you feel "Velkommen".
