We are trying to
reorganise the website and it is not always obvious where we are heading or the
purpose of a particular page. So I thought I would do a sort of blog so you can
keep up to speed and influence the future direction. Please use the
eClub Forum to raise or discuss website issues of
interest.
But first the objectives
of the website: |
- To attract prospective Rotarians to the
eClub
- To raise the eClub's visibility in the Rotary
World
- To raise charitable & other income through
eMakeUps, advertising and sponsorship
- To be the information source for the
eClub
- To be the eClub's discussion point

Last month we put some striking pictures of the
Pakistan earthquake rescue effort on the website. Today we add even more and
IPDG Colin Bryant's eyewitness report. Please do read it <here>. I remember a few months
ago voting to stockpile more Shelterboxes for the next disaster. Mark Pearson's
remarkable photographs vividly illustrate that becomes reality.

Club Stuff has been renamed Club House. Thought it
sounded more homely - hence the picture. The News section has been reorganised.
Initially as we didn't have much it could all go on one page. As it grows we
can split it into the component parts. This time around it has been split
into:

The next major development planned is 'About London (or
possibly 'Visit London') for launch in the new year. This is aimed primarily at
visiting Rotarians from both the UK & overseas. If we get our Google
rankings sorted this should attract anybody who puts Rotary and almost any
aspect of London into a search engine - or even anybody interested in visiting
London. The aim is to help visiting Rotarians extend their fellowship in town -
and find their way here! Travel websites supposedly attract high value
advertising. As it doesn't cost anything to find out I have registered the site
for GoogleAds.
If you go to www.erotarylondon.org/london.html you can see the scope
of the topics envisaged at this stage. As you see there is not yet any content.
But if you click on the 'By Air' link you
will see an example page together with the type of ads it attracts. *PLEASE DO
NOT CLICK ON THE ADS* unless you are seriously interested in the offer.
